About Us

Pasadena Fundamental Elementary's mission is to create a positive learning environment with high expectations where students and families work in collaboration for 100% student success. The fundamental school provides for those students who work best where expectations are clearly defined. A strong emphasis is placed on the requirement that home and school work together to promote successful learning. The staff at Pasadena have made a unique commitment to the fundamental principles and highest student achievement. Students learn to be responsible for their behavior and learning.

A fundamental family is expected to do the following:

  • Be present at one monthly school event each month (PTA or school-sponsored).
  • Adhere to the school dress code.
  • Review, sign and return all nightly homework.
  • Sign the agenda daily.
  • Attend at least three parent/teacher conferences each school year.   Follow the fundamental school disciplinary practices.
  • Provide all transportation to and from school on time daily.   Support the policies and procedures of the school.

Music and Art

The music program at Pasadena follows the National Music Standards and includes song, dance, creation, and various instruments. Curriculum based on the Orff Schulwerk process will enrich each child's life and offer a doorway into the wonderful world of music. After-school music groups include Fourth Grade Chorus, Fifth Grade Chorus, First Year Band, and Second Year Band. Each child will participate in an exciting visual arts education program. Students will explore art and artists of the world and develop skills to understand and appreciate the artwork. Each child will participate in hands-on art projects. They will develop critical thinking skills by studying their own and others' artwork. They will learn to draw, paint, create ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, and even learn digital media using our Art iPad Lab. We participate in district art shows and the Pasadena Art Show showcasing a creation from every student.

Defend A Friend Program

Pasadena’s unique program, Defend a Friend, was designed to ensure that all students feel safe, respected, and valued at school. When students witness unkind behavior, they are encouraged to take positive action — by stepping in, seeking help from an adult, or working with peers to help resolve the situation. As part of our school-wide commitment, each student receives a Defend a Friend shirt to wear weekly, and we recite our bullying prevention pledge together each week. The program is further reinforced through classroom guidance lessons, morning meetings, engaging contests, assemblies, and activities that promote kindness, empathy, and respect.
